What inspired you to create The Wholesome Heart?

I created The Wholesome Heart to share my journey. I wanted to create a community for like-minded women, so we can grow and continue to learn together.

I was burning the candle from both ends! Working ridiculous hours, fitting in every social occasion, punishing myself at the gym because of a number on the scale, I was over exerted and undernourished… everything was unbalanced. My body started to shut down and throw me warning signs, food intolerances, high blood pressure, depression & anxiety, constant infections, digestive issues, all the way through to the final straw Chronic Fatigue Syndrome!

I was punishing my body and never connecting to what it was trying to tell me. That’s why I decided to make a change, to make more authentic choices, from the foods I eat, the people I surround myself with, the work I do, and now my heart is literally bursting every single day! (I’m still human, I have crappy days BUT even on those days I’m beyond grateful for this journey)

I hope by putting my story out there, it’s a step to removing common stigma’s and open the ‘floor’ (so to speak) for us all to know we are not alone and share our stories to grow. I know far too many women out there who think they need to be able to do it ALL and still hold it together with a smile on their face, even though they are broken inside. It doesn’t have to be that way, I want to empower women to rebuild their relationships with themselves.

What does wholesome living mean to you?

Living with a wholesome heart is to be unapologetically you. Learning ways to bring more Self-love, Self-Care and Self Appreciation to your everyday life!

When you love yourself and your body, you will neither abuse yourself or others around you. You choose foods that will only nourish you, relationships that only serve, grow and support you. Have a meaningful career that aligns with your values. Find enjoyable activities that keep your body and mind strong. All of these things become easy and instinctive once you allow yourself to be the authentic YOU!

Do you have any advice for those of us leading unbalanced lives?

I think the first thing to do is look at the root cause of what is making you feel unbalanced, listen to your body, what does it really need and what it is trying to tell you.

Your body is pretty incredible at warning you that something isn’t working, what you ate today, might not work for you tomorrow? The same with the people you surround yourself with, you might be outgrowing them? Are you ready to dive deeper into your career? Or do you need to just re-look at everything and realise this life is damn good and stop over analysing everything! Just go with the flow.

You create beautifully nourishing recipes, could you share your favourite with us?

I would LOVE to share my favourite recipe with you guys, but to be honest it’s so hard to pick just one… BUT I think the Zoodles with Basil Pesto is the winner.

My main goal is to simplify cooking, less ingredients, less prep time BUT not withholding any flavour or nourishment. The Wholesome Heart reflects, nourishing your body from the inside out!

Learning to understand your body, is the most important part of building a beautiful relationship with food. Find what works best for you and what you truly enjoy eating. You should never deprive yourself, but educate yourself on what you are putting into your body, where it comes from, remember every purchase you make you are voting with your dollar formore business and better products to support our environment and your body.



You can literally whip this meal up in 10mins. It’s fantastic on those nights when you dont have anytime but need to up your green intake. Throw all the pesto ingredients into your blender/food processor. Spiralize your zucchini and throw it all together BOOM. Done.

Bonus: You can take it for lunch the next day, it doesn’t need re-heating and will keep its nutritional value!!

Pesto Pasta is a massive comfort food for me, so why not make it more nutrient dense by using zoodles instead. I’m late to the party, but I am now slightly obsessed with zoodles!! 


1 bunch fresh basil

1 cup of spinach

¼ cup Macadamia Nuts (Walnuts are also great!)

¼ cup Pine Nuts

¼ Lemon (juiced)

¼ Avocado

1 tsp. Sea Salt

3 tbsp. Garlic Oil

Pecorino (& extra to garnish)


1 Zucchini (1 Zucchini per person required)


  1. Use a spirilizer or you can use a peeler to slice the zucchini into noodle form.
  2. Wash and strip leaves the leaves from the basil and place in a food processor.
  3. Add the lemon juice, salt, peccorino and nuts.
  4. Blend for 2 minutes, then add the garlic infused oil, if it needs more liquid use water.
  5. Continue to blend for 2 – 3 minutes until mixture is soft and creamy.
  6. Lightly pan fry the zoodles and pesto for 1 minute.
  7. BOOM Enjoy!
