Beauty Tip | Coconut Oil
You may have made the switch in the kitchen, but coconut oil is so much more than just a cooking oil. Coconut oil can be used in every beauty routine to help enrich your hair, skin, face and smile. Start stocking up now!
Dandruff Treatment – We all know that dandruff is caused by having a dry scalp. Send moisture right to your roots when you use coconut oil as a nightly treatment - simply apply lightly to roots and massage in.
Conditioner – Hot coconut oil can be used as a pre shampoo treatment to soothe dry hair before you shampoo and condition. Looking for an all over moisturising treatment? Use coconut oil as a hair mask - apply to wet hair, wrap it into a bun and leave in for an hour.
Frizz fighter – Tame those flyaways without making your hair look greasy. Coconut oil can be used as a smoothing treatment that is also high on shine. Rub a pea sized amount in your hands and apply from the ears down.
Stretch mark cream – If you have stretch marks already, coconut oil won’t fade marks, it does however prevent dark spots and blistering from forming. Coconut oil is best used as a preventative, especially while pregnant.
Cuticle Oil –Want your manicure to last longer? Coconut oil, applied at the base of the nails, can act as a nail strengthened and a remedy for damaged cuticles.
Body Oil – Keep your skin soft, supple and moisturised all day long! Lathering coconut oil onto wet skin after you shower and pat dry – you’ll instantly feel the difference in the feel of your skin, not to mention you’ll smell AMAZING.
Body Scrub –Mix half a cup of coconut oil with a handful of course salt or sugar to create and exfoliator and apply all over the body. The scrub moisturises while removing dead skin - you’ll be left with baby soft skin.
Soothing Balm – Just like Paw Paw, coconut oil is a natural medicine. Minimise outbreaks and irritation by applying a small amount to bites, burns and bruises.
Under eye cream – Get rid of those dark circles. Coconut oil has super hydrating properties that reduce and prevent those unwanted lines and wrinkles under our eyes. Made up of fatty acids, coconut oil helps to create a protective barrier and acts as a skin reinforcer. For best results pat a coin sized amount of coconut oil under the eyes.
Night Cream – Packed with antioxidants, coconut oil will help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep. Apply coconut oil all over your face before you go to bed for maximum moisturising benefits.
Make-up remover – Can’t get that stubborn eye make-up off? Coconut oil is our favourite make-up remover because it is takes every last bit of make-up right off with ease! Apply the coconut oil to a tissue or wipe and swipe over the face. You can also choose to leave the coconut oil to sink into your skin as an overnight moisture mask.
Highlighter – After applying your make-up use coconut oil as a cheek highlighter - it will enhance your skin’s natural pigments and reflect light.
Lip Balm – Say bye to chapped lips. Apply coconut oil to the lips for a soft and nourished look that leaves your lips crack and flake free.
Whitening toothpaste – Become a walking Colgate ad by using coconut oil to whiten your teeth. Mix coconut oil with baking soda and use like regular toothpaste.
Breath Freshener - Coconut oil has antifungal and anti-bacterial properties. Gargling (aka oil pulling) a tablespoon of coconut oil can help clear up germs in the mouth, leaving you with fresher, brighter and healthier gums and teeth.
